Cashback on Existing Overseas FX Accounts: How Linking Works

You already have an overseas FX account. Can you still get cashback now?
In short, many brokers exclude existing accounts, and linking them afterward is generally difficult. In that case, you can think about using an additional or new account instead.
This article explains why existing accounts are often excluded and what to check before contacting your broker.
Summary: existing accounts are generally not eligible for cashback
- Many brokers do not allow linking an existing account afterward
- You can open a new or additional account through a referral link
- Whether each broker allows it will be posted on its page at launch
- Before contacting them, check how the account was opened and your registered details
Why existing accounts are often excluded
Cashback is funded by the fee a broker pays a partner for a referred client. In general, the referrer is fixed on record at the moment the account is opened.
For this reason, many brokers do not let you change the referrer on an account that already has one. How each case is handled depends on the broker's terms, so it cannot be stated in one rule.
XB's publishing policy
We publish only what we have confirmed with the broker about existing accounts. Brokers we have not confirmed are marked "being confirmed".
3 options if you already have an account
| Option | Details | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Open an additional account | Check whether you can add an account to your existing profile through a referral link | People who want to keep using the same broker |
| Open a new account | Open with another broker or a new profile | People who also want to try other brokers |
| Keep trading as is | Keep using the existing account without cashback | People who want to avoid the hassle of switching |
Whether an additional account is eligible differs by broker. Each broker's answer will be posted on its page at launch.
Even when you open a new account, whether the same person can hold duplicate profiles depends on the terms. Please avoid registering duplicates without permission.
What to check before contacting your broker
- 1
Check how the account was opened
Recall whether you used a referral link or opened it directly on the official site.
- 2
Note your account number and type
In the client area, see whether it could be an eligible account.
- 3
Check the referrer registration
Check in the broker's guidance whether a referrer is registered and whether it can be changed.
- 4
Read the broker's terms
Check what they say about additional accounts and duplicate registration.
If you still cannot tell, contact broker support with your account number. Ask two things: whether the referrer can be changed, and how additional accounts are handled.
Check each broker's account opening flow and what we plan to post at launch.
