How to Choose an Offshore Forex Broker | 7 Criteria and 5-Broker Table

With so many offshore forex brokers, are you losing track of what to base your choice on?
In short, you can cut the confusion by working through 7 criteria in order: license, trading costs, minimum deposit, and so on.
This article explains the 7 criteria and what to look for, and puts the 5 brokers XB covers into tables by criterion. We do not assign rankings or scores.
Summary: Compare offshore forex brokers on 7 criteria
- Start with the license and fund-segregation disclosure, trading costs, and minimum deposit
- Higher leverage and a lower stop-out level are not necessarily safer
- Check trading platforms and Japanese support on the assumption that you will keep using them
- Cashback support is a supplementary criterion that can lower your costs
- Which criteria matter most depends on your trading style and funds
7 criteria for comparing offshore forex brokers
- 1
License and fund-segregation disclosure
Check whether the entity and registration details can be confirmed officially, and whether the broker explains how client funds are held.
- 2
Trading costs (spread plus commission)
Compare the total including the trading commission, not just the spread.
- 3
Minimum deposit
It differs by account type. Check that you can start with funds you are comfortable with.
- 4
Leverage and stop-out level
Besides maximum leverage, check the margin level at which positions are forcibly closed.
- 5
Trading platforms
Besides MT4 and MT5, see whether there is a proprietary app or a web version.
- 6
Japanese support
Check whether there is a Japanese help center or support desk.
- 7
Cashback support
Check whether volume-based cashback is offered and how it is credited.

What to look for in cashback support
Cashback is a mechanism that returns part of your trading costs based on your trading volume. XB covers only auto-rebate brokers, where the broker's system automatically credits cashback to your trading account.
The cashback feature is scheduled to launch in December 2026. Amounts are not yet confirmed, and will be posted on each broker page at launch.
XMTrading is currently being prepared for listing. We will list it as soon as our checks are complete.
- Is it credited automatically to your trading account (auto-rebate)?
- Are the eligible account types and exclusions clearly stated?
- Are the amounts and crediting timing published? (XB will publish them at launch)
Decide which criteria to prioritize by goal
- Want to try with a small amount: prioritize the minimum deposit and the range of account types
- Want to keep costs down: prioritize the total of spread and commission
- Want to trade mainly on a smartphone: prioritize app and web version availability
- Want to be able to ask for help: prioritize the scope of Japanese support
- Want to limit losses: prioritize leverage and the stop-out level
Check account types, deposits and withdrawals, and points to note for all 5 brokers on their broker pages.

Q.Which criterion should I look at first when choosing an offshore forex broker?
The three to start with are the license and fund-segregation disclosure, trading costs, and the minimum deposit. Avoid brokers whose legal entity cannot be confirmed, and compare costs as a total including commissions.
Q.Is it OK to compare offshore forex brokers by spread alone?
We don't recommend it. Some accounts charge a separate trading commission. Look at the total of spread and commission, and also at the stop-out level and platforms.
Q.Where can I check a broker's license?
You can check the company information on the official website or the applicable entity shown on the registration screen. Terms can change depending on the entity displayed, so be sure to check before you register.
